TRAVEL PLANNING TIP: How long to stay in each city when planning multi-city travel ✈️
You all know I’m a HUGE advocate for multi-city travel, and that’s really the only way I travel these days, so I wanted to share exactly how I plan the number of days to stay in each place!
First off, I have an unwritten rule that I never plan to stay in a city for just one night. I don’t think you can see enough a city in 1.5-2 days, so I allocate at LEAST 2 nights to each city we visit.
First, I make a list of everything I want to do in that city 📝
THEN, I plan 2 big things each day.
Now, this doesn’t always work. Sometimes one of the activities takes a lot longer than planned, and you miss out on the second, but for the most part, 2 big activities/sites per day is a good place to start.
I’ll usually add one more flex day to the mix to account for travel mishaps, unplanned activities, a day to wander the city, whatever it may be.
Here’s some math for you (sorry) to make this all make sense:
If my list of things to do in a given city is 8 things long, I’ll plan to be in that city for 4 full active days (2 things per day) and 1 flex day, for a total of 5 full-ish days (arrive in the morning and leave in afternoon 4 days later).
OR you can completely wing it and you’ll probably still have a great time 🤷🏻♀️
Does this help at all Tell me below if you have a different method, or if you just wing it!
